I am honored to serve as Superintendent of the Little Rock School District and to work with a team of dedicated employees who possess the attitude and commitment to transform this district into a high-performing culture “Where WE Put Children First” is a daily vision and an instinctive response.
In my travels throughout the city of Little Rock, I have asked community members to share their thoughts about education, the future and direction of LRSD, and how we can work collaboratively to meet the needs of all students. We have conducted listening tours, visited with students, parents, teachers, business leaders, education officials, legislators, and members of faith-based organizations to learn about the most pressing needs facing our community. One overwhelming consideration was clear — the focus should always be the students and what is best for them.
As we embrace an era of transformation, our collective attitudes, coupled with our belief that we can do this work at the highest level of excellence, will be critical as we create new pathways to improve student achievement, school services support, and employee performance with accountable results.
The success of our students is directly aligned to a dedicated, skilled, and resourceful staff, active and strong parental involvement, and supportive communities. The Cultural Imperatives will serve as fundamental truths to ground our work, to inform our decision making, to chart our focus, and to renew our energy so that our purpose is clear — achieving the best results for our children, our families, and our stakeholders.
